*Growing Up McKinley* explores the early childhood of William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States. Born in Niles, Ohio, McKinley was known as an adventurous child who enjoyed engaging in games and playful antics with his childhood best friend, Joseph Butler. This production takes the audience on a journey with a young William McKinley as he discovers the importance of giving back to his family and community, all in hopes of attending the Mill Creek Hunting and Bow Competition with his father. Throughout the story, he learns valuable lessons in kindness and compassion that would later inspire his endeavors as a Civil War soldier, teacher, lawyer, and ultimately, as President of the United States. The performance is designed to be interactive, with cast members regularly breaking the fourth wall to engage directly with the audience.
